Publisher and editor Elizabeth Mitchell released Animal Noir (Little Key Press), an anthology of “anthropomorphic noir mysteries” on February 24, 2026. 

Experimental Files (Weird Fiction Quarterly) from publisher Sarah Walker and editor Elizabeth Mitchell is an anthology inspired by Gemma File’s 2015 novel Experimental Film. The anthology includes “CUT!” by Elizabeth, “Feng-Er (Wind Child)” by Frances Lu-Pai Ippolito, “Surf Queen” by David Barker, and an “Afterword” by Sarah.

Several HWA Oregon members had new flash fiction stories published soon in Weird Fiction Quarterly: Artificial Intelligence, including “Memento” by Niyyah Ruscher-Haqq, “Curious Cat” by Richard Leis, “Prompted” by Thomas Witherspoon, and “1000 Blind Eyes” by Sarah Walker.

Several HWA Oregon members were nominated for the Science Fiction & Fantasy Poetry Association’s (SFPA) 2026 Rhysling Award Long List! In the short poems category are Juleigh Howard-Hobson with “Never Wander the Catskills Without Understanding That Rip Van Winkle Was a Cautionary Tale” in Catskill Chaos (518 Publishing Company, LLC); Larina Warnock with “The Farmer and the Princess” in 4LPH4NUM3R1C, Episode 7: Femme Fury; and Richard Leis with “Los fantasmas en Su Boca” in Poisoned Soup for the Macabre, Depraved, and Insane: Nostalgic Terrors (Brigids Gate Press.) In the long poems category is Katherine Quevedo with “The Emerald Tapestry” in Corvid Queen.

Audio recordings of Kate Boyes’s “Pantoum for Hearts Parsecs Apart” and Katherine Quevedo’s “The Poison Dart Frog Prince” were published online for the 2026 SFPA’s Valentine’s Day Reading.

Katherine also has a story, “Venom in the Cloud Forest,” reprinted and featured in After Dinner Conversation on February 19, 2026.

Larina Warnock was selected as a poetry professional for Norwescon 2026.
