July and August were great months for dark literature and events. HWA Oregon members were participating in the Willamette Writers Conference and other public events. Editors were seeing in the wild books they helped edit. Writers were getting published in The Deadlands, Eye to the Telescope, Short Editions story dispensers, and Weird Fiction Quarterly, or they were announcing upcoming website mini series, or they were writing before, during, and after summer vacations.
What’s next? Well, September is pre-Halloween month, right? And nearly as important as October? Here’s what’s coming soon to put us in the autumn and Halloween spirit.

Social Meetup (in-person)

What: Mox is an awesome spot with a large board game inventory and great food. We will be meeting up to grab some food together and then playing a few games from the Mox library. Mox will validate parking up to 90 minutes (there is a nearby parking garage) and it is near a MAX station.

What: Guest speaker Holley Cornetto (she/her), MLIS, MFA, Adjunct MFA Faculty at Southern New Hampshire University, and editor of five horror anthologies will discuss how your writing can stand out in the slush pile.
