The Oregon Chapter of the Horror Writers Association
WELCOME TO HWA OREGON!

 

This chapter of the HWA celebrates, supports, and promotes the work of Oregon and southern Washington horror writers and publishing professionals.

  • Our chapter meetings are held on the third Sunday of each month at 6 p.m. via Google Meet.
  • Our book club meetings are held on the last Sunday of each month at 6 p.m. via Google Meet.

We also host private and public in-person events for our members and the community, and our table with information about how to join our chapter and our members’ books can be found at various events throughout the year.

As an HWA member in this region, you may also edit your profile on the HWA WildApricot member website. After you log into your member account, click “View profile” under your name. Press the “Edit profile” button. Scroll down to the “Public Information” section. Select the Oregon chapter under the “Are you a member of an HWA chapter?” dropbox. Then press the “Save” button at the bottom of your profile.

COLD-Themed Horror Reading

Announcement for HWA Oregon Presents COLD Horror Reading at Beaverton City Library, Saturday, Jan 31, 2 p.m. "Join us to hear local horror authors read some winter themed spooky stories." Where: Beaverton City Library, Meeting Room B (12375 SW 5th Street, Beaverton, OR 97005)

What: The Horror Writers Association of Oregon invites you to listen as local horror authors share stories that all share the theme of dealing with the chilly temperatures we experience during the winter. Come out to a nice cozy, warm room before the chilling tales send shivers up your spine! All ages.

February Chapter Meeting

When: Sunday, February 15 at 6:00 p.m. 

Where: Online

What: We’re welcoming Caitlin Starling to discuss her career and answer questions!

Horror Movie Night

When: Monday, February 16 at 7:00 p.m. 

Where: TBD

What: We’re getting together at one of our homes for another horror movie night for the first eight members to RSVP. If more than eight of us are interested, we’ll look for a bigger space for future movie nights.

February Book Club

When: Sunday, February 22 at 6:00 p.m. 

Where: Online

What: In February, we’ll read The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon by Stephen King,  then meet on the last Sunday of the month for our virtual discussion.
